Noise is a collection of visible and invisible forces that characterise the contemporary environment. It emerges from the constant flow of information, the fast pace of life, social expectations, and the relentless need to adapt. Together, these factors create an environment that is overwhelming, unsettling, and alienating, distancing people from themselves. Such a suffocating environment creates a longing for a place where time moves more slowly and where silence does not feel like emptiness, but rather like the return of something long forgotten.
The exhibition’s series of paintings is inspired by Romanticism, an art movement that recognised timeless power in nature and saw it as a reflection of the human inner world. Just as the Romantics sought answers in nature to the changes of their time, this exhibition, 200 years later, searches for silence amid the constant noise of the contemporary world.
