Liisi Örd
Liisi Örd (1984) holds a Master’s degree from the Painting Department of the University of Tartu. She describes her practice as fragmented realism, moving between representational imagery and the edge of abstraction, depending on what feels essential in the material at a given moment.
Landscape painting holds a central place in her work, especially when painted from nature. Liisi is drawn to the restrained, slightly melancholic Nordic landscape and the sense of silence it carries — a quality she perceives not only in nature, but also in the surrounding environment and in people themselves. Through painting, she seeks to create a reality that extends beyond the visible, revealing layers that the eye alone cannot perceive.
